Donia’s Story
“I had stage 3 breast cancer in 2018, and I’m not sure I could have made it through that journey without Megan. I am certain that I would not have made it through that crazy experience in a way that was so well held, that went so smoothly, with no remnants of trauma left behind, if it wasn’t for Megan. When I look back on that time, all I remember is the wonderful people who helped me and nurtured me back to good health, and what excellent care I received, due in large part to Megan’s help and guidance. She was with me every step of the way – from doctor’s appointments, and decisions and incisions, to surgeries and chemo and radiation care. She was always there to answer my questions and soothe my worried soul and calm my nerves. She was knowledgeable about every part of the process, and helped guide me through the maze of doctors and meds and appointments and treatments, in such a skillful and compassionate way, that at some times, I hardly noticed how terrifying it was. She made something that could have been the worst experience of my life, into something that was just an interesting experience that I had, and a journey that Megan helped guide me through in a way that I will be forever grateful." — Donia H.

The Keller Family
"Our family had a wonderful experience with Megan. Our 95-year-old father was recently diagnosed with melanoma on the side of his head. Megan was recommended by our fathers’ granddaughter.
“Our family spent an hour with Megan getting terms clarified and objective answers to questions and opinions that might be available. Her ability to convert medical terminology into simple concepts was amazing. Her calm tone and smooth guidance was reassuring to family members that were obviously concerned about the implications of the various proposed treatment opinions.
“After our meeting, the family members had a clear view of the options that had been presented and guided us to a clear decision path for treatment. Additionally, Megan’s consultation enabled us to ask the health care providers the right questions as we settled on the final care path.
“We are extremely grateful to Megan for the advice given and would enthusiastically endorse her for families and individuals beginning their difficult and many times distressing cancer journey." — The Keller Family

“Megan has been there with me from the very beginning, she provided me with all aspects of care.
“When I first contacted her regarding my mom and her metastatic breast cancer diagnosis, we were scared, overwhelmed and confused by all the information we had been given. She started by very plainly explaining what type of experience she had with my mom’s specific cancer type and gave us reassurance in her expertise.
“She attended doctor’s appointments with my mom and then provided a debriefing with written notes for me and my family to help us understand and ask questions. She makes herself available more than just 9-5. Which, I feel is one of the best benefits of her services because questions come up outside of business hours and while on-call services can help, it's much more comforting to know someone has your back that knows the ins and outs of your case.
“Then, when I got the call that I also had an abnormal mammogram and inevitably found out I too was being diagnosed with cancer, I can't even put into words how grateful I am that I knew I could reach out to Megan when I knew it was too raw to call my mom.
“We started from the beginning so Megan helped me by virtually attending my initial surgical consult and gave me evidence based information, resources and emotional support when making my decision of what type of surgery to get to have my cancer removed. She helped ease my mind and weigh my options by making sure I was aware of what each decision entitled including, healing time, follow up, and recurrence.
“She spent time researching Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC) as it's not as common as Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC). Megan has just been a wealth of inquisition and knowledge during all of this.
“Megan taught myself, my husband and my mom a 2-hour pre surgery class to discuss how to set yourself up for success, be prepared, know what exercises to do, types of food to eat, and even had ideas on how to adapt my house during times I would have weight and mobility restrictions. She has been an advocate with my best interest in mind.
“What words would you use to describe your experience working with Beacon RN? Necessary, calming, supportive, smart, thorough, inquisitive, advocate, clarity."

"Megan provided one-on-one, private care for me and my caretakers, in my home and at medical appointments.
"Even though I did research on my own, it was really nice to discuss options, plans and expectations of treatment with Megan in a calm, casual setting, both before and after medical appointments.
"Taking thorough notes during medical appointments was so very helpful, because it took stress off my husband and me. Also, because we had discussions before medical appointments, Megan helped to make sure we covered all our questions and concerns during appointments.
"I had good doctors that explained things fairly well, but it was great to have Megan explain expectations before and after appointments and procedures. I felt well prepared for appointments, procedures and treatments.
"We really appreciated her follow-up with my family and me, including coming to our home several times. She visited me the day after my surgery to make sure I knew how to care for myself, do my exercises and monitor my meds to ensure pain control and healing. She was available for “emergency “ calls and texts outside of office hours. When I was having unexpected pain post surgery and she gave suggestions on how to manage the pain and ease the discomfort with heat instead of ice as I was having a spasm and the ice was intensifying it." — Jen L.

“Megan was always there to answer my questions and soothe my worried soul and calm my nerves.”
