Breast Cancer Support Package

At Beacon RN, your breast cancer journey is our priority. Our services are tailored to cater to your unique needs, ensuring you have the support and guidance essential for this journey.

Doctors Appointment Support

Attend up to 4 appointments either in-person (where applicable), on a conference call, or video chat. Appointment notes will be taken by me and emailed to you. Then a follow-up appointment will be scheduled to answer any questions, review plan and discuss next steps

  • Breast Surgeon

  • Medical Oncologist

  • Radiation Oncologist

  • Breast Reconstruction Plastic Surgeon: (if applicable)

  • Second Opinions ( if applicable)

Whole family/Caregiver education and support

  • Breast Cancer affects the entire family and everyone needs support and their questions answered.

  • Questions and support calls or texts outside of normal business hours for those “emergencies” when you just need to talk to someone

  • Research on clinical trials, new treatments, best practice, complimentary treatments

Pre and post-operation education and consultation

Breast surgery education class with up to 4 support people

Class includes:

  • Education on pre-surgery procedures and the flow of the day of surgery

  • Pre-surgery preparation (garments, post-op assistive aids, discuss complementary therapies and how they can help with healing

  • Pre-surgery medications and post-op medications education and sample schedules

  • Tips and tricks to optimize healing (nutrition, hydration, alternative modalities)

  • Day of surgery recovery goals explained

  • Discharge education

  • How to care for yourself post-op

  • How your caregivers can help you and care for you

  • Restrictions and guidelines for activity and self-care

  • Drain education and follow-up upon going home (drains may or may not be needed based on your surgery)

  • Lymphatic System Education and Risk reduction strategies for Lymphedema

  • Physical Therapy and Exercises to do immediately ( day 1-7, day 7-21) and recommendations on PT/Lymphedema Therapy post-surgical and plastic surgery

Post-operation education and consultation on day 1 after discharge

  • Review drain care, wound care, activity, exercises, restrictions, and medication management

*For additional support during or after surgery if more hours are needed this could be negotiated on an hourly basis, service area, and based on availability

  • Going to post-op appointments with clients in person or via phone/zoom

  • Providing support and rides for post-op appointments

  • Taking clients to and from surgery and staying during surgery

  • Providing post-surgery support in person at home

Pre and post Chemo treatment education and consultation

  • Education about medication(s) (Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Pre medications, Post Medications, Oral Chemotherapy)

  • What will a typical infusion day look like, feel like, and be like

  • IV medication infusion devices (port, PICC, IV) explanation and discussion

  • How to manage side effects and symptoms

  • Post Chemotherapy follow-up in person or via telephone/zoom

    *For additional support during or after Chemo if more hours are needed this could be negotiated on an hourly basis, service area, and availability.

  • Taking clients to and from the infusion and staying during infusion

  • Providing post-chemo support in person

Radiation Pre and Post-treatment education and consultation

  • What a radiation treatment will feel like, look like, sound like

  • Side effects, skin care education

  • Schedule timing

  • Tips and tricks for therapy

All services may be packaged together as all-inclusive OR depending on your individual need, services may be provided ala carte. Together we will determine the best plan for care and support.
